A rich style of champagne with excellent pastry matching potential.

White
Vintage: 2007

We matched this with carbonated, cold brew Earl Grey, which was a bit of a challenge for some people! The tea was a bit like Pimms actually and the vintage champagne is rich, with a nutty, character. It has a creamy texture making it a good match for light starters and cheese straws – champagne and pastry have a heavenly affinity in our humble opinion. It would class as a ‘grower’ champagne, coming from a small, family run producer. This one is promoted at half price in Tesco, and like many of these deals, it’s great value at half price.

Things you should know

Producer Name: Champagne Chassenay d'Arce
Alcohol Level: 12%
France, Champagne
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
Tasting Note: A soft and creamy champagne, with gentle bubbles and a nice blend of citrus and classic patisserie flavours - think lemon curd on toasted brioche.
