A rustic French Syrah with bags of character.

This Syrah is everything you would expect from a Southern French rustic red. It’s got lots of juicy berry flavours but they combine with some serious peppery, spice and the bite of a some oak ageing. If you are exiting the Syrah / Shiraz station this is most definitely the Syrah branch, rather than the smoother, juicier New World style we associate with Australian Shiraz particularly.
It might not be a night on the sofa glugger as you need something to eat to smooth out those tannins, but as soon as you match this with some decent grub you’ll love the texture and taste of this wine. It doesn’t need anything too sophisticated either, although it’s crying out for meat (sorry veggies!). Anything from a designer sausage roll to a flat iron steak with get this wine glowing.
This wine was provided by Corney and Barrow for the Borders Book Festival event and is a sponsored post.
