If you haven't found the Chardonnay exit to suit you yet, keep exploring because you will find the perfect gem just round the corner soon. If you are looking for a creamy, smooth White Burgundy then Le Mont Chatelaine is the Chardonnay for you!

White
Vintage: 2011

White Burgundy is a luxurious, rich & decadent station at one end of the White Central Line… rather like Notting Hill Gate compared with Mile End.

White Burgundies can range in flavour from oaky & full to crisp with an almost chalky freshness, although they are always based on the grape Chardonnay. Whether you love or hate Chardonnay it’s a bit of a chameleon so it is worth exploring to find the right style for you.

‘Le Mont Chatelaine’ is a full example of the grape with some oaky, creamy, toasty richness to compliment the peach, melon & lemon zest flavours. Not all wines are good with rich food, but this would be fantastic with some classic french cooking with lots of butter & cream!

Jean Rijckaert (the winemaker) works with vineyards in the Macon and Jura regions in France. He likes to let nature take its course so tends to do things by hand and use natural yeasts, giving his wines a distinct personality. If you like to buy farm eggs and organic meat and veg this is the same thing…
