Have you heard of London Wine Week? It runs from the 18th – 24th May and is a week of all-out wine celebration with bars, restaurants, producers and enthusiasts putting on a show in London for wine drinkers! One of the best things about it is that it is all about getting out and exploring great places to drink great wines which means everyone is focussed on making sure it’s fun.
The general concept is that you buy a wristband for a tenner and collect a guide book. The wristband gives you a special deal in any participating venue, mostly in the form of a £5 wine flight and in some cases some food matching. On top of that there are loads of one off events and dinners all week.
The London Wine Week website has all the info on everything that’s happening and how to buy wristbands.

We’ve decided to take the WineTubeMap to London Wine Week in as many ways as we can, London is the home of the real tube map after all! So we’ll be hosting a pop up bar, running mini tastings and a wine workshop and have coded all of the flights on offer across the entire guidebook so you’ll know roughly which flavours you’re getting every flight you try.
For more info on the Tasting Station, our pop up, click here. It’s part of the London Wine Week hub (which is at Devonshire Square just by Liverpool St) so you’ll be able to stop by and visit us when you pick up your wristband. It will run daily throughout the week from 1pm – 10pm.
Our Express Service mini tastings will take place every lunchtime at the Tasting Station, more details here, you can buy tickets individually or block book a session as a team and we’ll do a mini tour of the map. Tastings at 1pm Mon – Fri.
Our Wine Workshop is part of the London Wine Week events on Saturday 23rd and will be an extravaganza of all of our favourite WineTubeMap tastings, including matching wine to music, popcorn, tea and generally breaking the rules of conduct on the tube (we’ll also be speaking to each other!). Limited tickets, event runs 2-3pm.
Here’s a sneak peek to the flavour key we’ve created in the London Wine Week guide book, every flight (that we knew about when going to press) has been given a flavour code in the book so you can see which line you’re travelling at any time. Even if the wine itself is a style which isn’t a station on the map we can still tell you which line it fits on.

We’ll also be ‘researching’ some of the other brilliant wine places in London and giving you our take on where the wine is at around London, and would love to hear where you’ve been. Leave a comment or get involved on our facebook, instagram and twitter feeds. We’ll be giving away some wristbands over the course of the week too.
Have fun and drink well!
Nikki
