Thirsty Thursday Wine Tasting Events

We’re back! We loved running our Thirsty Thursday wine tastings but have had a bit of a break to finish the ‘Pocket Guide to Wine’ and do some other exciting stuff. Now we’ve decided to get the service back up and running, so from 4th March we will be running a monthly Thirsty Thursday wine tasting service.

We’ve kept the informal, sociable spirit of the previous services but added some new features to make your wine tasting journey even more enjoyable. Thirsty Thursdays are perfect for the ‘wine tourist’, taking our ‘travellers’ along a different line on the map each week to explore by flavour. Unlike most wine tastings we’re interested in exploring the wines in a sensory way so expect to use all of your senses, unusual props, matched playlists and some innovative popcorn flavour matching. Unlike the real underground, commuters are encouraged to chat to each other and move around giving Thirsty Thursday’s a ‘start the weekend’ feeling!

By exploring wines by flavour and style rather than by country, grape or producer the WineTubeMap gives you the confidence to travel a bit further afield with their wine choices. Making it perfect for those who are married to Mr(s) Merlot, stuck on Sauvignon or weary of White Zinfandel but not sure where to go next. Frequent flyers and first time travellers are just as welcome and we don’t mind if you come in a group, pair or on your own – it’s always a friendly bunch. Those of you who know us will know we always come armed with a carriage load of travel puns and a tongue in cheek approach to wine, meaning that this is not a conventional approach to wine tasting. Instead it’s a great way of exploring wine without the fuss and asking any of those questions you’ve always wanted to know but never wanted to ask. For us, it’s not what you know, but whether you like it!

I found this quote from a book called ‘How to construct a coffin in 6 karate chops’ by Jarok Kintz, which is now on the reading list… We won’t be attempting doing a grapevine at TT (yet!)…

“There’s a new wine I want to try. I heard about it through the grapevine.”

Thirsty Thursday wine tasting events will be held on the first Thursday of the month followed by everything you need to recreate your own tasting at home including video, social media and downloadable recipes and winelists published on the third Thursday.
