A new entry to the white wine scene

White

Official Name
If you like your wines to sit in the background and not get in the way of your long lunch or after work snacks, this is the wine for you. Vinho Verde is light, refreshing and crisp. The perfect backdrop to a good natter and al fresco eating. Vinho Verde is traditionally a ‘holiday’ wine, supped on a Portuguese beach, and enjoyed for its light spritz. Now, it’s been given a bit of a make over and we’re seeing lots more of it in the UK. It shares the Albariño grape (called Alvarhino in Portugal), often blended with some local, lesser-known grapes.
Things you should know

Top Tip: Not a wine to gather dust! Make sure you're drinking the most recent vintage.

Specific Food Match: Vinho Verde is light and dry, so it is easily overpowered. Best enjoyed with crunchy salads, baked fish in herbs or some nibbles.
